Sammy Ameobi's 'incredible moment' as Nottingham Forest players thank fans

Sammy Ameobi says it was 'an incredible moment' for him to score his first Nottingham Forest goal against Stoke City.

The winger made it 2-1 in the second half as Forest went on to win 3-2 as they went to the top of the Championship for the first time in five years, before being overhauled on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first time Ameobi had found the back of the net in 11 appearances since his arrival on a free transfer in the summer.

"It was an incredible moment. It's always good to score, but to get the three points and go top for one night, well we'll see (how long for)," the former Bolton winger told Sky Sports soon after the final whistle.

"We've got a great fanbase at Nottingham Forest and it really helps the boys. It's great."

Meanwhile, some of Ameobi's teammates took to Twitter to also thank the fans and revel being top of the league for no matter how long it lasted.
