Sammy Ameobi on Nottingham Forest's approach for the 'famous games with Derby County'

Sammy Ameobi says Nottingham Forest will go into their clash with bitter enemies Derby County full of belief.

The Reds take on the Rams at the City Ground tomorrow evening looking to progress further in the Carabao Cup.

It will be a first taste of the East Midlands rivalry for Ameobi, but he has been well briefed on what to expect.

The winger has been in the thick of plenty of derbies before in his career, not least during his time at Newcastle United.

And he says the hosts must keep cool heads as they bid to make it to the third round of the cup.

Should they manage it, that would make it six games unbeaten in all competitions for Sabri Lamouchi’s men, following their 2-1 toppling of Fulham at the weekend.

“I’ve heard all about the famous games with Derby,” said Ameobi.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but we’re all very much looking forward to it.

“I’ve heard all about the rivalry from the lads.”

He added: “We just have to have belief. It’s all about the mind.

“Derby games like this can be quite daunting for some players, so you’ve just got to take it as another game.

“Obviously we know how much it means to the fans and we have to give our best, which is what we do every game.”
