Sammy Ameobi 'electric' for Nottingham Forest in fightback at Leeds United

Sammy Ameobi was "electric" for Nottingham Forest against Leeds United, says former Leeds striker Noel Whelan.

Sabri Lamouchi's Reds were trailing 1-0 at Elland Road when Ameobi came off the subs' bench for Albert Adomah in the second half.

And Whelan believes the 27-year-old helped to inspire Forest's fightback, Lewis Grabban scoring an equaliser in a 1-1 draw which gave the Reds their first point of the new Championship season.

“I thought Sammy Ameobi, when he came on, was electric, he was excellent," said Whelan.

"He changed the course of the game and gave them a little bit more drive, a little bit more directness, more pace.

“He did cause Leeds problems."

Ameobi has played in both of Forest's opening two league matches of the new campaign, having also come off the subs' bench against West Brom.
