Mohamed Salah was once again the star man, as the forward scored a hat-trick to take the game away from the Red Devils. That was after Naby Keita had opened the scoring and Diogo Jota added a second.
Liverpool scored all of their goals before the 50th minute and would have fancied their chances of adding more when Paul Pogba was sent off on the hour mark. Nevertheless, the match will be remembered as a hugely significant one in the history of the rivalry.

Those associated with the Anfield outfit rejoiced around the globe, including former centre-back Hyypia.
The Finn posted a picture on his Instagram story with an umbrella open over his head, complete with the caption "it's falling so many goals at Liverpool vs. Manchester United need umbrellas."
Hyypia also had praise for the team's hat-trick hero, noting that Salah is "on fire."
The centre-back spent 10 memorable years at Anfield and was a crucial player in the team's treble success in 2001 and the Champions League win in 2005.
Liverpool's latest win leaves them second in the Premier League table, one point behind Chelsea.
