Sameer Wankhede records statement with Thane police, refuses to speak on Nawab Malik's arrest

THANE: Former Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede recorded his statement for over seven hours in connection with the cheating and forgery case registered against him by the state excise department.

He came out of the police station at around 7.30 pm, and said, "I wont be able to tell anything on my case but im cooperating with the investigations." Wankhede refused to speak about anything when asked on the arrest of minister Nawab Malik by the Enforcement Directorate.

Wankhede was booked by the Kopri police on the case registered by the State excise official allegedly for submitting forged documents for Earlier, the Thane collector issued orders to seal the restaurant earlier this month.

Wankhede has been booked under sections 181 (false statement to a public servant), 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
