The first ever same sex couple dance will be performed on Strictly Come Dancing next month.

According to the Sun Online , Italian Graziano Di Prima, 25, and South African Johannes Radebe, 32, will dance together on the results show on November 3.

The pair are professional dancers on the show.

The pairing comes as ITV rival Dancing On Ice said it will make TV history by pairing two male dancers.

A Strictly sources told The Sun: “It’s a brave move for the Beeb and will break boundaries but bosses are under a lot of pressure.

“There have been calls for same-sex pro and celebrity pairings. This is an ideal way to integrate that.

“It will hopefully pave the way for a same-sex couple next year. It’s a step in the right direction for making the show even more diverse.

“Graziano and Johannes are ideal for the dance as they’re the same height and good mates, having joined the show at the same time.

Last year TV doctor Ranj Singh admitted he was disappointed at not being able to dance with a man.

“I would love to dance with a same-sex partner,” he declared.

Former contestant Reverend Richard Coles agreed that it made "no sense that anybody resists the idea" of same-sex contestants dancing together.

In 2010, Israel's version of Dancing with the Stars included a same-sex couple which featured TV presenter Gili Shem Tov who was partnered with professional dancer Dorit Milman.

The couple took turns on the traditional male role of leading the dances.
