Samba Sow speaks out on the club in his 'heart' after Nottingham Forest exit

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Samba Sow says he is "very happy" to move back to Lens as he secured his future following his summer exit from the City Ground.

Sow was released by Forest in the summer having been a popular figure only for injuries to scupper his progress.

But he has now secured his future with a switch to Lens, the club where he started his career.

Sow spent 15 years at the Ligue One club before moving on to have spells in Turkey and Russia. He then joined the Reds in 2019 and went on to make 41 appearances.

And he said he was glad to be back where it all began for the Malian midfielder.

"I am very happy to come back to Lens," he told Mercato.

"It's a pleasure.

"I am very happy to return to bring my little experience in reserve in N2. It would be nice to end my career here. I carry this club in my heart and it doesn't matter where they put me…

"I didn't think I would come back to Lens.

"It's the club of my heart where I learned everything as a player, but also as a man. I spent fifteen years there which allowed me to have a career. At 32, I wasn't ready to go anywhere. The family factor also played a role. It will take a few weeks for me to be well, I will see that with coach Démont. "

"Once again, I arrive in a club with a great dynamic. My goal is to get into the club well, to bring what I can and to take what there is to take. I'm going to get to work."
