Samantha Womack teases theory Ronnie Mitchell is ALIVE and could return to EastEnders

EastEnders favourite Samantha Womack crashed out of the soap on New Years Day in 2017, after her character Ronnie Mitchell drowned on her wedding day.

The actress and her on-screen sister Roxie, played by Rita Simons, both died together at the bottom of a swimming pool in emotional scenes.

However, now Samantha has teased the possibility of a return to the soap during an interview on This Morning.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the soap star said: "We've had loads of wacky suggestions.

"Somebody said that because Billy Mitchell works in the funeral directors there's this drug that can make people look like they're dead, so it's all been a big thing and they've faked their own deaths.

"We've had so many suggestions. Some of them are hysterical".

Digging a little deeper to see if Samantha and Rita would categorically rule out a return together, Phil said: "But you can't come back now, can you? "

To which Samantha hilariously replied: "How dare you!" with a smirk on her face.

While she refused to rule out the unlikely comeback from the dead, Samantha is a little busy at the moment preparing to hit the West End stage.

The actress is set to star as Rachel in The Girl on the Train, as based on the novel by Paula Hawkins.

The play is touring the UK from 23 July until November.
