A West Lothian woman has been spreading some Christmas cheer with a beautiful arch she created with baubles donated by generous neighbours.
Samantha Mushet (26), says people have been knocking on her door asking where they can buy the colourful arch for themselves.
She said she decided to start her project after a car accident last year that injured her foot badly affected her mental health.
Samantha, who stays in Armadale, explained: “I have been off my work long-term sick due to being in a bad car accident last year and struggle to mobilise.
“I am usually an active person and having to use a crutch to mobilise is stopping me from being able to do my job within the NHS.
“My mental health is bad and I am always trying to keep my mind from wandering so I decided to make a bauble arch for Christmas.
“People donated their old baubles they don’t need and always bought a lot from local charity shops. I’m so chuffed with how it’s turned out and I have got a lot of comments on it, people chapping my door wondering where I bought it.”
Samantha continued: “Creating the arch definitely helped with my mental health as I was relaxed, my mind was concentrating on where each baubles were going and I was excited to see the finished product!
“I went to local charity shops and gave them a donation for the baubles I also put on social media that I was looking for baubles and a few friends and family members looked out all there old baubles! So a big thank you to all them for making it possible.
“The arch is made up of three separate parts which means it is easy for storing for next year. I will make sure it’s wrapped in bubble wrap and stored with TLC!
“I think since the Christmas arch has been such a bit hit with all neighbours, people driving by, word of mouth, I will make a arch for around our garage next year so it will be triple the size, a real challenge but it will look amazing. I have already started looking for baubles for next year.
“My step-son Finlay Brown is Christmas crazy. He loves everything Christmassy and would have the Christmas decorations up from August if he could.
“My partner Greig Brown kept me company while I spent cold nights in the garage making it.”
