Samantha Madgin's killer Jordan Jobson back behind bars after failing to behave

Teen knife killer Jordan Jobson has once again ruined her chance of freedom by failing to behave during a spell out of prison.

A legacy of heartache and hope: Samantha Madgin's family speak on what would have been her 30th birthday had been due to come before a parole board next month, and was being held in a low security 'open' prison in preparation for when she gets out.

But ChronicleLive understands she has now been returned to a closed jail after failing to comply with conditions when she was allowed out on day release.

This week Samantha's loved ones have marked what would have been her 30th birthday with the launch of A legacy of heartache and hope: Samantha Madgin's family speak on what would have been her 30th birthday, an organisation to help tackle knife crime and support families.

Now, her mum Alison has told of her relief after learning killer Jobson would not be out soon.

The 53-year-old said: "I don't know what she has done, but they are taking it seriously and she has been put back into a closed prison.

"She will hopefully be in a bit longer now. It is a relief knowing that she will be behind bars for a bit longer with everything that's going on."

Samantha, from Wallsend, was just 18 when she was stabbed to death, in August 2007.

The new mum had been enjoying her first night out since giving birth to son Callum when she crossed paths with 15-year-old Jobson in an alleyway.

Jobson, a stranger to Samantha, armed herself with a knife after a disturbance broke out.

Newcastle Crown Court heard how Jobson had been drinking vodka and snorting cocaine before she stabbed unarmed Samantha 10 times in the face, arms and chest and inflicted six other knife injuries.

One of the blows pierced her lung and severed a major artery near her heart and nothing could be done to save her.

The senseless killing left Samantha’s family broken and robbed her son Callum, who was just 10 weeks old at the time, of his mum.

Jobson was convicted of murder after a harrowing trial at court.

She was originally handed a minimum jail term of 15 years.

But after two separate appeals that was reduced to 11.

Last year, Samantha's loved ones were fighting to prevent the killer from being moved to a lower security jail.

And in May we told that after being given a chance at HMP Askham Grange, an open prison in Yorkshire, she was returned to her former jail following an incident during which she is understood to have threatened another inmate.

It is understood Jobson was subsequently transferred back to Askham Grange, but while on temporary release earlier this month she breached the conditions imposed to allow her out.

Samantha's loved ones have now set up Samantha's Legacy in her memory.

The organisation will provide help and support to other families suffering as a result of knife crime and see Alison, and Samantha's sister, Carly, visiting schools and young people's groups to share their story in a bid to end Britain's stabbing epidemic.

Samantha's friends and family will come together to celebrate her birthday with a fundraising dinner at the Grand Hotel at Gosforth Park, on Saturday night.
