Sex and the City fans have been sent into a downright tizzy after Samantha Jones made a brief (but iconic) cameo on the latest episode of And Just Like That.
Rumblings of Kim Cattrall‘s appearance in the spinoff went into overdrive when Max, the streamer that is home to AJLT, posted a still from the new episode, which hit Aussie screens earlier today.
The photo shows Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw whipping out her phone to send a text message.
While fans might assume the receiver would be Miranda, Charlotte or, heck, even Mr. Big (from beyond the grave), Carrie’s text is instead being delivered to someone I’ve been channelling ever since my mum first showed me SATC and unknowingly turned me gay.

That’s right, we learned in the fifth episode of AJLT season three that Carrie reached out to her long-lost friend with a question about her downstairs neighbour.
The pair briefly texted about the mutual friend with input from Miranda, but the appearance (tragically) cuts short without Cattrall ever actually appearing on screen.
While Cattrall’s cameo is (regrettably) only in digital form, this is still major news for anyone across SATC lore, since the actress famously refused to appear in the spinoff amid reports of a falling out with Parker.
Samantha’s absence from the first season of AJLT was explained in-universe when Carrie said she had fired Samantha as her publicist, but it wasn’t total curtains on Cattrall just yet.
The actress made a brief cameo in season two of AJLT when Samantha attempted to return to New York to help her farewell her apartment (*that* real-life owner must’ve gotten his way), and reports circulated at the time that Cattrall had provided a lengthy list of conditions around her return.
Catrall didn’t appear opposite any of the main cast for her cameo scene, which saw her take a phone call from Carrie that, while brief, was iconic enough to send this writer into a full SATC rewatch for the eleven hundredth time.
Even the sight of Samantha’s name on AJLT might be proof that nature is healing, since Cattrall and Parker have been dogged by feud rumours for about as long as it took Carrie to finally nail down Big.
In any case, I for one can’t wait to dig into the latest episode of AJLT to catch as glimpse of Samantha Jones, who is no-doubt as wise, hilarious, and horny as she’s always been.
