Samantha Faiers 'so upset' as her first Christmas with baby son is ruined

Samantha Faiers has shared how she has been left 'so upset' after her first Christmas with her baby son was left ruined after she was floored over the festive season. The former The Only Way is Essex star was struck down by a nasty illness as she prepared to enjoy the celebrations for the first time as a family-of-five.

Sam and partner Paul Knightly welcomed their third child together, a baby boy who they named Edward, earlier this year. The couple, who have been together since meeting back in 2014, already shared son, Paul Jr, seven, and five-year-old daughter Rosie.

Announcing the happy news of their latest arrival to her 2.5 million Instagram followers, the ex-The Mummy Diaries star shared a sweet photo video featuring fireworks and glimpses of Sam during her water birth. "My whole world," she wrote alongside a blue heart. No words can describe how in love we are with you baby boy. I honestly can’t explain my feelings right now. Mummy loves you more than you could ever imagine."

It wasn't until later that she unveiled his name and has since been giving updates on social media into her life as a busy mum-of-three. But as she prepared to enjoy her first Christmas with Edward in tow, Sam was struck down by what she called the 'worst possible flu'

The 31-year-old took to social media to reveal how her Christmas had played out, while sharing a photo of a beautiful table setting and candles. “Hey, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I’ve been quiet on here as I was struck down with the worst possible flu you can imagine," she typed over the image.

"After 8 days today I’m starting to feel a bit better. So upset it happened over my favourite week of the entire year. Anyway I’m just so happy I’m on the mend." And Sam's return to health comes just before she celebrates her 32nd birthday on New Year's Eve (Saturday).

Sam's period of ill health came after she enjoyed a ski trip with her family, as they hit the slopes in France with a group of friends. She shared a sweet video of her two eldest children Paul and Rosie hitting the slopes for the first time. "Paul & Rosie’s first ever time on the real slopes," she shared alongside the clips. "So proud of these two! Thank you Paolo for being a great coach.

"As you can see the skiing conditions were tricky today & visibility was tough. Such an amazing experience watching my babies ski down a (nursery) mountain."

But as Sam struggled over Christmas, her older sister Billie Shepherd headed back to her old home as she enjoyed Christmas with their mum, Suzie, and her newborn daughter. The Family Diaries star welcomed her third child with husband Greg Shepherd earlier this month.

The couple, who also share daughter Nelly and son Arthur, welcomed their baby girl into the world on December 2 and now, just a couple of weeks later, Margot has celebrated her first Christmas. Billie took to Instagram on Boxing Day (Monday) to share a sweet image of Margot dressed for the special occasion. She could be seen laying in a white onesie with matching hat which had 'Baby's First Christmas' printed on.
