Sam Warburton's appeal to rehome neglected dog who was sent back to Cardiff Dogs Home

Former Welsh rugby union player Sam Warburton is on a mission to rehome one of Cardiff Dogs Home's longest residents.

Sam, an ambassador for Cardiff Dog Homes, has shared Noddy's story to his 416,000 followers on Twitter in an appeal to rehome the dog.

He wrote: "One of @therescuehotel longest residents still waiting for his forever home after neglect. Hopefully someone is out there for him. I’ve actually met Noddy and he’s a beaut!”

Sam included an adorable picture of the lurcher wearing a red collar, green lead, and holding his paw up to the photographer’s hand.

Sam's tweet has received about 600 likes and caught the eye of another dog-loving celebrity, commentator Andrew Cotter.

Andrew replied: "Good boy Noddy - hang in there.”

Noddy, who is thought to be between one and two-years-old, arrived at Cardiff Dogs Home in November 2020.

He was adopted soon after - but was sadly brought back to the centre when things 'it didn’t work out'.

He has been described as "sensitive and easily overwhelmed" so needs a quiet, adult only household who can build up his training and socialise him with other dogs.

Noddy thrives on routine and loves to swim and splash about in puddles, especially when they're muddy.

He can live with another dog but will need introductions. However, his future owners will need secure garden as he has been known to jump fences of six feet.
