Sam the Trinity College fox is expecting cubs after meeting her true love in the heart of Dublin

The Trinity College fox seems to have found her true love and will soon be expanding her family at the iconic city centre campus.

Sam became famous during the first lockdown when she was caught roaming around an empty Grafton Street.

She was struggling to find food in the city as all restaurants and bars were closed and scraps were difficult to find.

This resulted in the development of poor health, but staff at Trinity left out meals infused with antibiotics.

But that was only the beginning of her happily ever after as Sam formed a social bubble with Prince last month, and staff at the college have now noticed she is pregnant.

Sam and Prince have been madly in love and roaming around the campus together.

Trinity College zoologist Collie Ennis believes that the couple's love story resonates with people.

He also said: “When the females are in heat, the males and the females go a bit crazy."

But there were zero fox given: “They don’t seem to care. They were literally out in the middle of the green mating all over the place.

“We have pretty graphic video footage. We definitely know ‘who’s the daddy’, put it that way.

“It has kept us entertained in the college for the last couple of months.”

It is expected that the foxy couple will become parents next month as the pregnancy period for the mammal is only 48 to 52 days.

During her single life, Sam was a wild one as she was pictured roaming around Temple Bar with a dead bird in her mouth in recent months.

She has remained in her 5km over the past few months, but lockdown has her acting up as she allegedly broke into the Department of the Taoiseach and urinated in a room.

Pest controllers reported a “strong smell of fox urine” in the department after finding a dead rat under a raised floor in the building.
