Sam Szmodics is 'over the moon' after receiving a call-up to the Ireland squad ahead of the Andorra and Hungary friendlies.
Stephen Kenny was forced to seek out replacements after Aaron Connolly, Callum Robinson and goalkeeper Darren Randolph pulled out with injuries.
Brighton forward Connolly has a foot issue while West Brom attacker Robinson is struggling with an achilles problem.
Randolph, who missed the World Cup qualifiers in March, is still battling a hip issue and Bournemouth’s Mark Travers has been recalled as cover.

But attacking midfielder Szmodics - whose grandmother is from Granard in Co Longford - is a surprise inclusion.
The 25-year-old has never been involved with an Irish team up to now but caught Kenny’s eye this season.
Szmodics is also eligible for Hungary who Ireland face in Budapest on Tuesday week.
"I'm over the moon to receive my first international call-up for a nation that is close to mine and my family's hearts," said the English-born player.
"I'm looking forward to the 12 days ahead and experiencing international football."
Szmodics scored 15 goals in 42 appearances as Posh secured promotion to the Championship.
He was previously with Bristol City and Colchester United and also had a loan spell with non-league Braintree Town six years ago.
The Ireland squad gathered in Girona, Spain today for a training camp and skipper Seamus Coleman has been passed fit after a recent injury.
Swansea City duo Conor Hourihane and Ryan Manning will link up with the squad on Monday after their Championship play-off final.
And Daniel Mandroiu joins the squad on Sunday as he will play for Shamrock Rovers in their league game away to Longford Town tomorrow.
