Sam Smith says all they need is 'McDonald's and a gay bar' after crying snap backlash

Sam Smith knows exactly where they're heading after lockdown is lifted.

The singer, 27, is feeling the weight of the ongoing quarantine because they can't get to their favourite spots.

"I just cannot wait for McDonald's," they told, "McDonald's and a gay bar. That's all I need."

This comes after Sam received a bitter backlash online for sharing a photo in which they can be seen crying on the step of their £12 million north London mansion.

"Stages of a quarantine meltdown," they captioned it.

They've since made clear that the snap wasn't posted as a ploy of sympathy or out of malice - but rather a joke that only their pals would get.

Chatting with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on their Heart Radio show, they told: "I use my social media as if it's just my friends on it.

"My humour didn't get picked up, I didn't mean any malice."

One of those to slam Sam over the snap was Piers Morgan, who told Sam to "get a grip" over their "attention seeking."

"I can't take any more of those celebrity attention seeking bulls**t," he tweeted.

Still, Sam's found a lockdown silver lining as they revealed it's given them the chance to spend a bit of time with their Oscar.

"I usually keep it safe," they said of the award they won for the main theme of 2016's James Bond flick Spectre, "But since I've been at home I keep it out.

"I feel like I'm here, I can protect it.

"Whenever I'm on tour, I put it away, because you can't get another one if it gets nicked or anything."
