Sam Smith apologises to fans after being forced to cancel another gig due to mystery illness

Sam Smith has apologised to fans after being forced to cancel another concert due to a mystery illness.

The Unholy singer, 30, revealed they would not be able to perform at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on Tuesday as they and their team are unwell.

Taking to their Instagram Stories, the Stay With Me musician apologised to fans and revealed tickets are still valid for the new concert date.

Sam's gig cancellation comes after they pulled out of performing at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow over the weekend.

"Sailors, I am so sorry to let you know that my team and I are still really not well, so unfortunately we need to reschedule out Birmingham show to the 27th of May 2023," Sam wrote.

"It's so important to me that we give you the very best version of Gloria. I don't want you to experience it at anything less."

They added: "Thank you so much for understanding, I know how excited everyone is to see the show, and I feel the same about seeing all of you.

"All previous tickets are still valid for the new date. For more information, go to my website www.samsmithworld.com. All my love, Sam X."

They also shared a professional photo of themself posing on a pedestal with the concert's new date information written over it.

Sam took their Instagram on Friday to reveal they were cancelling their previous Glasgow gig, writing a heartfelt apology on their page.

“Myself and a lot of my team have been hit with a virus, that's made us really unwell," they said.

The Lay Me Down hitmaker took to the stage and kicked off their Gloria tour earlier this month, following the success of their fourth studio album of the same name.

But Sam has sparked a heated conversation online once again thanks to another 'controversial' performance.

While Sam's fans who were in the audience seem to love the star's tour aesthetics and themes, critics have taken aim at the non-binary star - accusing them of giving 'satanic' and 'sexualised' performances.

Sam - who uses they/them pronouns - dresses in a series of eye-catching looks for their latest tour, with red devil horns, sheer veils, wire crowns, nipple tassels and fishnets all making appearances throughout the performances.
