Sam Slocombe says 'everything is there' for Notts County to make successful return to the Football League

Sam Slocombe says “everything is there” for Notts County to make a successful return to the Football League if they are in with a chance of promotion this season.

The Magpies are currently on a four-game unbeaten run having ruthlessly dispatched Chorley 5-1 on Monday and face Yeovil this weekend as they look to extend that run.

Notts fans will be hoping they can be involved in the promotion shake-up at the end of the season which would be remarkable given the summer of change which saw the club sold to brothers Alexander and Christoffer Reedtz.

But goalkeeper Slocombe says that if they can challenge for an immediate return to the Football League, he takes hope from the teams who have gone up in the past.

“Teams want to cause problems by the numbers game in that the more balls you throw into the box, the more chance you have of scoring.

“There will be fewer teams wanting to play this new breed of football coming through with the under-23s and how England are set-up.

“It’s competitive, and there is no massive difference to League Two.

“Salford are competing and Fleetwood did it a few years ago. They came up and were involved in the play-offs in their first season.

“If we can be performing at the right levels week in, week out and we get the chance to make the next step, everything is there for us as well.”
