That’s all for now. Thanks as always for following along with us and be sure to check back later for a full match report.
A spot of Canadian history made today at SW19. Raonic has matched Eugenie Bouchard for most grand slam semi-finals reached by a Canadian player – man or woman – in history. Both Raonic (2014 Wimbledon, 2016 Australian, 2016 Wimbledon) and Bouchard (2014 Australian, 2014 French, 2014 Wimbledon) have thrice made the last four at majors. The other two Canadians to make it that far were one-offs: Carling Bassett-Seguso at the 1984 US Open and Robert Powell at 1908 Wimbledon.
“It’s a well deserved win for me, to have another shot in a semi-final,” Raonic says in the tunnel. “It’s exciting and it’s also humbling at the same time.”
When asked how newly installed consultant has helped with his game: “He’s added a little bit of demeanor change on the court, maybe [helping me be] a bit more positive and getting more energy out of myself. And obviously I volleyed great today so he’s helped out with that.”

He’ll need to do it again today (as will Federer, it seems). Meanwhile, a clinical hold for Raonic. Two aces followed by a service winner make it 40-love before he closes it out with a winner off a serve and volley.

Today marks the 19th time in the Open era that an American and a Canadian have faced off in the men’s singles at Wimbledon. There have been 11 wins for Americans and seven for Canadians in that all-time series, though Raonic has won the two most recent encounters, seeing off Jack Sock this year and in 2014.
It is the fourth career meeting between Querrey and Raonic and second at Wimbledon. Querrey won their first meeting at SW19 – their lone previous grass-court match – but that was back in 2012.
Hello and welcome to today’s Wimbledon quarter-final between Sam Querrey and Milos Raonic. Querrey, who vanquished Novak Djokovic in the third round, is looking to give the United States its first Wimbledon semi-finalist since 2009 against the big-serving Raonic on No1 Court. The match should be underway shortly. Plenty more to come.
Bryan will be here shortly, in the meantime here’s how Sam Querrey played in his previous match:
In the hours after his stunning win against Novak Djokovic in the previous round, Sam Querrey watched every little rerun he could get his hands on, loving the moment. Having never gone beyond round four of a grand slam event, he was eager to enjoy it and as he began his last-16 match here on Monday, the fear of a let-down was obvious. But the American is determined to extend his 15 minutes of fame and his 6-4, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 win against Nicolas Mahut was an exercise in professionalism.
“I felt like I did great today,” said Querrey. “Nicolas is tough. I’ve lost to him the last two times I played him. I knew in my mind it was going to be a tough match, even though on paper, to the outsider [it would have been]: ‘Ooh, he beat Novak, this is going to be an easy one’. It was a match I wanted to win to make it to the quarter-finals. If I didn’t win, there would have been a lot of: ‘wow, it was kind of a fluky match against Novak because you didn’t back it up.’ I feel like I did a really good job of putting my head down and playing really well today.”
With his big serve and strong forehand, Querrey has been as high as No17 in the world and has earned more than $7m in prize money. But victories over the likes of Djokovic do not happen very often for players like him and he had no qualms in saying he’d enjoyed it as much as he could.
“I’m not going to lie,” he said. “After the Novak match, I watched every highlight I could over and over. Enjoyed the hell out of that moment. I’m just going to keep kind of enjoying myself, hang with my friends and family, practice tomorrow, get ready for the next match.”
