Manuel Pellegrini will no doubt want to put that City defeat at the back of his players' minds.
After suffering yet another defeat to Pep Guardiola's side, the Chilean will be facing a challenge to modify the midfield with his club captain and potentially two key players ruled out with injury.
However, the fixture could just the be the morale boost they need and getting a win not only away from home but against a team who they are yet to beat in the Premier League - Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Seagulls were impressive after seeing off Watford but can they repeat that same level of form against the Irons too?
Brighton are priced at 6/4 to win while a West Ham win is 15/8 with thepools.com.
Check out the preview and let us know who you are backing in the footie5 competition this week.
Head-to-Head
This will be the 25th meeting between the two sides with West Ham winning on 10 occasions, losing eight and drawing six.
The Irons have struggled against the Seagulls in the last two season, picking up one point and losing three matches.
Their last win against the south coast club happened in 2012 when West Ham thumped Brighton 6-0 in the Championship.

Form
The Irons will be relieved they got the Man City game over and done with as the league looks set for another two-horse race between them and Liverpool.
The champions came out as convincing 5-0 winners and continue their run of wins at the London Stadium.
Last season however, the Irons returned to winning ways the very next match after playing City - which is priced at 15/8 at thepools.com.
Brighton surprised everyone with their performance at Vicarage Road last weekend.
Their 3-0 win was not the win pundits and fans alike predicted going into this, with many tipping the Seagulls for relegation.
Team News
Manuel Pellegrini will be facing a selection headache in the midfield with three injuries already including two from last week's defeat.
Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson joined Mark Noble (calf) in the treatment room.
However, Pellegrini confirmed Wilshere was training with the first-team this week while Anderson remains a doubt despite saying it was a "small injury".
The Chilean admitted key signing Sebastien Haller also picked up a knock and is a doubt for the match at the Amex too.
If he recovers, the striker is 4/1 to score first with thepools.com.
Meanwhile, the hosts will still be without long-term absentees Jose Izquierdo, Ezequiel Schelotto and Yves Bissouma.

footie5
Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas has put a 1-1 score draw while Sam Quek is going for 2-2 - which could see one of them picking up six points in the footie5.
He said: "Tough start for West Ham against City but they had some good spells which they can take some confidence from. Brighton surprised us all with their performance but I’m expecting the Irons to bounce back and nick a draw so SCORE DRAW!"
Quek also reckons West Ham will bounce back and give the Seagulls a challenge away from home.
She said: "West Ham were turned over by a dominant Man City, but should put up more of a fight vs the Seagulls, who surprised Watford. I’ll go a draw."
A score draw is 3/1 at thepools.com.
