Sam Pang, AKA our favourite award host, has returned to spearhead the 2025 Logies at The Star for the third year running. As suspected, his opening monologue was nothing short of spicy. Carolina Reaper spicy, if you will.
Nothing (or should I say nobody) was safe, with everything from conceited, self-centred media moguls to Channel 10 axing The Project under attack. Shots were indeed fired.
“It is once again a huge honour to be your host tonight, and it’s inspiring that with the world in as much turmoil as it is right now, that we as an industry have not wavered in our commitment and bravery in coming together tonight to honour ourselves,” said Sam, barely a minute into his monologue.
Ah, Sam. You’re a self-aware gem. Never change.
Another notable quip was his commentary on Gold Logie nominee Hamish Blake.
“Two-time winner Hamish Blake is nominated again. I voted for Hamish, not because I don’t support women, [but] just because I want to see him deliver the most awkward acceptance speech ever. Anyway, good luck mate. Now you know what it feels like to be a diversity hire,” said Sam.

If there’s one thing Sam’s not afraid to do, it’s tell it how it is. As predicted, the usual reality TV culprits did not get away unscathed.
“Farmer Wants A Wife has an incredible success rate. Over 15 seasons, the show has resulted in 11 marriages and 27 children, [making it] the main way for farmers in this country to get screwed outside of Coles and Woolies,” remarked Sam.
“[Meanwhile], Married at First Sight was criticised for breaking ethical standards, and producers strongly defended themselves, saying every contestant had to undergo a mental health evaluation, an STI test, and an IQ test. If they failed, they were on the show.”

Possibly my favourite moments of jest? The ones coming for the state of network TV, of course.
“Channel 10, of course, replaced The Project with 10 News+, which is like the Titanic being replaced with the OceanGate submarine,” quipped the Have You Been Paying Attention? star.
“[Also], happy birthday to SBS, our most diverse network, celebrating 50 years. It’s worth noting that before SBS, many Australians had never seen a Serbian penis.”

The comedian pre-warned that his monologue would be rife with not-so-subtle digs, so none of this should come as a shock. Nonetheless, my guy held NOTHING back this time ’round. Absolute king energy!!!!!
