Sam Osborne admits he still has work to do before cementing Notts County place

Notts County winger Sam Osborne says he is yet to cement a place in Neal Ardley’s team despite his impressive performances over the festive period.

The academy graduate scored a terrific goal in the 3-0 win over Maidenhead on Boxing Day and then created Wes Thomas’ opener in their 2-1 win over Bromley at the weekend.

Osborne has had to be patient for his chance this season, but has impressed Notts boss Ardley who has been pleased with his development under his tutelage.

But the winger is not taking his recent ascent into the first team for granted, admitting he still has much work ahead if his to be a regular.

“It feels to be good playing, but I would not say I have got the spot yet,” said Osborne, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday.

“The plan is just to keep on trying to cement a place in the starting 11.

“I’ve just got to keep doing what the manager asks of me.

“When you play different teams, there are different strategies,  and I’ve got to try to give them what they want.”
