Australia’s royal wedding — AKA the marriage of Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis — has officially come, and some sneaky pics of the nuptials have given us some insight into their big day.
2026 has truly kicked off with a bang for the Matildas’ el capitano, with Kerr tying the knot with Mewis after they got engaged in 2023.
The iconic football duo made things official in a private ceremony in Perth, Kerr’s hometown, with a guest list of more than 100 people — unfortunately, not including me.
In photos obtained by 9News, Kerr donned a sleek, black tux, and Mewis wore an absolutely STOONIN’ white dress paired with a veil as big as my love for both of these sporting icons.
Dramatic? Yes, but luckily for me, it’s an IN for 2026.
Besides these naughty paparazzi pics, no official photos from the nuptials have been shared. But as we wait for those to come through, we can definitely relish the adorable fact that Mewis and Kerr’s son — Jagger Mewis-Kerr — was carried down the aisle by the Tillies captain.
“I feel like he’s a little bit too young to have a role, but Sam is going to walk with him down the aisle which is very, very sweet,” Mewis revealed on the Mewis Squared podcast days before the wedding.
“That is going to be gut-wrenching for me. I will sob when that happens.
“He’s probably going to be wearing a little matching outfit with her; it’s going to be absolutely adorable, so he’s just chilling for the ceremony.”
In May 2025, Kerr and Mewis announced the arrival of their son in a joint Instagram post.
“Our little man is here, Jagger Mewis-Kerr,” the pair wrote.
A marriage, a baby and two stellar football careers. These icons have it all!! Fingers crossed Kerr can also nab an AFC Women’s Asian Cup trophy this year… unless the Philippines clocks it first (we will be rooting for both teams).
