Sam Hubbard wearing boot day after loss to Bills

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard was seen in a boot the Monday after his team’s Week 3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Hubbard, right in the middle of a breakout season, suffered some sort of ankle issue against the Bills. The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. noted the boot.

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com had previously noted Hubbard was playing through an ankle injury:

Hubbard, hobbled by an ankle loaded with ice, was hugging Allen when he threw the ball for cornerback Darius Phillips first NFL inteterception and the one that got the Bengals breathing again. “I’d rather have the interception than the sack,” Hubbard said.

Hubbard playing through the issue already is perhaps a good sign and the boot could very well end up being a precautionary measure.

The Bengals can’t afford to lose Hubbard up front going into Monday in Pittsburgh. He was top 10 in terms of pass-rush snaps producing a sack or hit going into Week 3 and against the Bills, he added another six total tackles to his resume, was involved near a fumble and had the mentioned pressure on an interception.
