Sam Heughan offers Karen Gillan 'wee part' in Outlander after Twitter exchange

Sam Heughan has offered fellow Scots A-Lister Karen Gillan a part in Outlander after the pair shared a Twitter exchange.

Scots actor Sam, who plays main character Jamie Fraser, made a public proposition to actress Karen sparking a frenzy with fans.

Writing on Twitter Sam said: "Still time to find you a wee part Karen..."

And Karen replied: "Can I be an extra loitering around Inverness asking people “what’s the Craic, eh?”

The job offer came after Karen took to Twitter to reveal she had been binge watching the show during her down time from filming and admitted she was 'obsessed' and a 'massive fan'.

Earlier in the week Karen, who is originally from Inverness where the first season of the show is based, posted: "Ok I’m late to the party but I started Outlander and I am officially obsessed."

The official Outlander page replied writing: "Welcome to the club, thrilled to have you! I'd warn that symptoms of Outlander addiction may include starting to say anything and everything in a Scottish accent but you've already got that covered."

Twitter users were quick to declare the red head Jumanji star a perfect addition to the popular show.

One wrote: "You can be in everything for me Karen. You will always be my Amy Pond Timetraveling Powerwoman!! So..literally you timetravelled before Claire! Ah timetravel. Just beware a Paradoxon! Or don't step on a butterfly. Outlander & Doctor Who. My most favourite Shows both need you!"

Another added: "Oooh!!! Karen would be a brilliant addition to the show!!! She could be a descendant of one of Roger and Brianna’s kids!Who can tell, maybe our favorite author @Writer_DG has another Outlander story hiding in her brilliant mind?"

One commented: "Every time they say Inverness in Outlander I think of you. you deserve to be on this show."

Another fan wrote: "Funny, I like your sense of humour. You will fit in instantly with that cast."

This week, the Outlander team revealed that season six filming has officially wrapped and the new season would be dropping 'early 2022' with a 90-minute premier episode.

Producers also promised that season seven would be longer too with 16 episodes.

Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts: "Filming in 2021 has presented an unprecedented set of challenges which led us to the decision to truncate the season in order to bring the fans the most vibrant and dynamic season as soon as possible.

"Dinna fash, we will then film an extended season 7 with 16 episodes next year as life returns to normalcy."

Could we see Karen Gillan in season seven? We will need to wait and see!
