Sam Gowland's regret at cancelling dinner plans with Mike Thalassitis days before shock death

Sam Gowland has revealed his regret at cancelling dinner plans with pal Mike Thalassitis just days before his shock death.

Sam starred alongside Mike in the 2017 series of Love Island.

The star was found dead on March 15 having tragically taken his own life at the age of 26.

Sam, who now stars in Geordie Shore alongside girlfriend Chloe Ferry , had plans to meet up with Mike just a few days earlier, but sadly, they had both been too busy.

Speaking to new! magazine, Sam said: "It's obviously really sad. I was speaking to him four days before and we were meant to go out for food as I was playing a charity football match in London.

"But we both ended up being busy, so we said we'd do it the week after. And then a few days later the news broke."

Sam, 23, said he found out about Mike's passing through a friend and that his thoughts are with his friends and family.

He says social media trolling is a huge problem, even in the wake of Mike's death.

Just days after the news broke, someone commented on one of Chloe's social media pictures, saying "Suicide best option for you".

Chloe, 23, said: "I didn't actually see it. Sam was scrolling through and showed me. That's not normal - it's digusting. People like that shouldn't be allowed on social media.

"Normally I just ignore it, but something needs to be done. I have very thick skin but imagine if you don't?"
