Sam Fender Virgin Money Unity Arena gig - security, food and drink rules and how to get there

The world's first dedicated socially distanced large music and arts venue is set to open in Newcastle tonight.

Sam Fender is set to take to the stage at the Virgin Money Unity Arena in Gosforth Park, Newcastle, tonight for the first of his two gigs at the new venue. Entry opens at 6pm.

The Virgin Money Unity Arena is due to hold a series of concerts and performances throughout August and into September, offering fans a rare chance to catch live performances this summer, as the coronavirus pandemic led to festivals and concerts being cancelled across the world. The likes of Maximo Park, The Libertines, Ronan Keating and Patrick Topping are signed up to perform.

Due to the pandemic, ticket holders must follow strict rules and regulations when arriving, attending and leaving the performances.

Fans can arrive by taxi, or get a lift, by using pick up and drop off points at the venue.

After arriving by vehicle, tickets will be scanned in-car, before they are parked and ticketholders are escorted to their viewing platform
