Sam Fender triumphs at NME Awards after BRITs success - list of main winners

Sam Fender's success has continued after the Geordie superstar bagged two gongs at this year's NME Awards.

The Hypersonic Missiles singer, 27, followed up his BRIT Awards success by lifting the awards at the ceremony at the O2 Academy in Brixton on Wednesday evening.

The ceremony was hosted by Daisy May Cooper and Lady Leshurr and saw artists from many different genres honoured.

Sam performed on the night alongside his ever-present band members and was also handed the awards for Best Album By A UK Artist and Best Album In The World for his work on 17 Going Under.

Presenter Asim Chaudhry was joined by TikTok sensation Francis Bourgeois to present the UK award - and Sam later posted to his Instagram declaring his love for the social media star.

Accepting the award, Sam confessed: "We didn’t even know we were nominated until two sentences ago,” Fender said upon accepting the honour.

“Loads of Geordie passion in the house tonight,” he added. “Scream if you wanna go faster!”

Jokingly he then turned his attention to fellow winners on the night, Fontaines DC, and declared: "I’m gonna come and neck on with the f***ing lot of ya."
