Sam Fender reveals the amazing prize he got from Greggs for winning a Brit Award

He might not have won the award he was up for at Tuesday's Brits but Sam Fender announced to the nation the amazing prize he received from Greggs after his win for Critics Choice last year.

Sam hot footed it down from Newcastle to London's O2 Arena for the Brit Awards after he back on home turf on Monday to play to a packed crowd at one of his rescheduled gigs at the O2 Academy - check out our review.

This time last year, Sam was at the Brits with his Critics Choice award and this year was hoping to emerge victorious in the Best New Artist category.

Unfortunately that wasn't to be as the first award of the night went to Lewis Capaldi, but Sam did get his moment on stage when he presented this year's Critics Choice accolade, renamed Rising Star to Celeste, alongside Adwoa Aboah.

He told the packed crowd: "I won it last year and I've now got a Greggs gold card and Alan Shearer's phone number!" Not jealous at all Sam!

Sam revealed to ChronicleLive about the much sought after Greggs card last year but now the whole nation has turned green with envy - think of all the sausage rolls (vegan or normal) you could buy with that!

Sam Fender has a dig at Mike Ashley at his Newcastle gig

The past few weeks have been amazing for Sam. After having to cancel gigs due to ill health, he bounced back in style by playing at Elton John's Oscars party in support of the music legend's AIDS Foundation and then the night got even better for the 25-year-old, when Sir Elton joined him on stage for a duet of single Will We Talk, taken from Sam's debut number 1 album Hypersonic Missiles.

He is back in Newcastle later in the week for another sold out gig at the Academy.
