Sam Fender postpones Bristol O2 Academy gig - what to do if you have tickets

Sam Fender has postponed his Bristol gig due to illness.

The Geordie has had a fantastic year after releasing his debut album, Hypersonic Missiles , which received widespread acclaim.

He had been due to perform at a sold out O2 Academy tonight (December 4) as part of the album tour - but has been forced to postpone due to illness.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, the singer said: "Been having the tour of our lives and caught a bug, totally gutted.

"Docs have said we have to postpone Bristol and Birmingham until the 'respiratory tract infection' heals.

"We've managed to reschedule the shows to the end of January though and hope to make it up to you then.

"The shows will now take place on Jan 30th in Birmingham and Jan 31st in Bristol - our first shows of the year."

This is not the first time the 25-year-old, who won the Brits Critics' Choice Award 2019 in December 2018, has cancelled a Bristol show.

Earlier this year he was forced to postpone his planned performance at SWX not once but twice, first in May and then in June.

When he did eventually perform at the venue in August though, he impressed Bristol Live's reviewer.

The North Shields star has previously spoken out about a health scare he suffered when he was 20 , the details of which he has not disclosed, as well as his 'crippling insecurities'.

What to do if you have a ticket

The gig has been rescheduled for January 31.

Tickets for tonight's performance will be valid at the revised date, or refunds are available from where tickets were purchased.
