Sam Fender has been forced to postpone two dates on his UK tour ahead of the first of four sold out shows in Newcastle at the weekend.

Uploading a statement to his Instagram story, the Will We Talk musician said: "Been having the tour of our lives and caught a bug...totally gutted...docs have said we need to postpone Bristol and Birmingham until the respiratory tract infection' heals.

"We've managed to reschedule the shows to the end of January though and hope to make it up to you then. The shows will now take place on Jan 30th in Birmingham  and Jan 31st in Bristol. Our first shows of the year. Your tickets remain valid or refunds from point of purchase."

Sam has been getting rave reviews on his winter tour so far, wowing crowds in the likes of Glasgow, Liverpool, Nottingham and Leeds and he has sold out four nights on home turf this month at O2 Academy Newcastle, weeks after switching on the city's Christmas lights.

Sam has already been confirmed as a headliner for another huge event in Newcastle -

Earlier this year he was forced to cancel a number of big scheduled appearances, including a dream performance at Glastonbury due to illness.
