Sam Fender pop-up merchandise shop will reopen for five days for Academy gigs

Sam Fender's quirky pop-up shop will reopen this weekend ahead of the singer's rescheduled gigs at Newcastle Academy.

The Geordie singer is set to play at the O2 Academy on Monday February 17 and Wednesday February 19. The two shows were initially set to go ahead in December, then earlier in February, but the 25-year-old had to postpone the gigs due to ill health and bereavement.

Sam has pledged to "tear the f***ing roof off' with his performances when he gets back on stage.

In December, Sam opened a pop-up shop opposite the Academy, in Westgate Road, to sell merchandise to fans. His representatives have confirmed the shop will be open again from Saturday February 15 through to Wednesday February 19.

Stock will include t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, bottle openers and badges, while Sam Fender themed art work from Neal Fox will also be available to buy.

Bracelets made from guitar string which Sam played with for a gig in LA will also be on sale, with proceeds going to the CALM suicide prevention charity.

In a statement apologising to fans for the earlier postponements, released in early February, Sam said: "I'm gutted to have to do this again. I've had an absolute shocker with my health.

"It's been a series of unfortunate events this last month with chest infections, laryngitis and a family bereavement, and now I've come down again with tonsilitis.

"I'm raging, all I want to do is get back out and sing, but I just can't. We're going to reschedule these shows, and will let you know on the new dates as soon as possible. I know this is massively inconvenient, I can't apologise enough, I'm so sorry.

"My immune system is totally s**t at the moment. I'm doing everything I can to combat that. The only thing I can do is tear the f***ing roof off when we reschedule again.

"It's a big year ahead - mental things are coming, I just need a bit  more time to heal. Thanks to you all for sticking by me, I couldn't ask for better fans. Love you all, Sam."
