Sam Fender makes Saturday Night Takeaway confession about BBC Breakfast appearance

Sam Fender admitted to Ant and Dec that he 'couldn't remember' his famous appearance on BBC Breakfast last year.

North Shields musician Sam appeared on the early morning show in October, just hours after he partied with legions of Newcastle fans outside of St James' Park to celebrate the club's takeover.

Sam and his saxophone player Johnny Blue Hat joined crowds as a party atmosphere descended on the Magpies' ground, with Johnny playing Geordie anthem Local Hero.

Sam was given plenty of cans of lager from fans as thanks for getting selfies with them and, later on in the night, he was pictured behind the bar with staff at nearby pub The Strawberry.

By the time he'd travelled down to do BBC Breakfast, Sam was feeling very fragile and, speaking live on air, said: "I did about a thousand selfies, got proper mobbed, but everybody was absolutely class and gave us a load of cans, and I'm really hungover. I'm really, really hungover.

"But, well, yee kna, these things happen, don't they?

Ant and Dec couldn't resist mentioning Sam's iconic TV moment when he appeared as a star guest on Saturday Night Takeaway, when they told the Will We Talk singer that they were having a middle of the series party, with next week's episode cancelled for the rugby.

Sam told them: "You know how much I love a party," to which Dec replied: "We know how much you love a party."

Dec added: "Behave yourself, I remember your BBC Breakfast appearance," to which Sam admitted: "I don't!"

Dec then told viewers at home: "If you haven't seen it, Google it."

Sam and his band appeared on Saturday Night Takeaway to be part of the End of the Show Show, which saw them entertain a room full of revellers with a rendition of hit single Seventeen Going Under.
