Sam Fender in Newcastle: Metro closures for St James' Park gigs as major changes confirmed

There are now just a few days to go until Newcastle hosts its biggest gigs of the year, when Sam Fender takes to the stage at St James' Park for two shows.

It was back in September that North Shields star Sam announced he'd been playing on the pitch of his favourite football team, with tickets flying out as soon as they went on sale, forcing am to quickly add a second date. That too didn't take long to sell out and, since then, those lucky enough to have bagged a ticket, have been on countdown to the concerts.

Sam has had a busy few weeks, ticking a huge box by supporting his musical idol in Italy and now, he and his band are looking forward to a return to home turf, to play the biggest shows of their careers to date.

Sam's St James' support acts will include London is Lonely singer Holly Humberstone, Irish band Inhaler and a host of local acts, with stage times for Friday and Saturday also now released.

Many fans are expecting to use the Metro to get to and from the gigs this weekend but, there will be some operational changes to certain stations, with the majority of them on Saturday, the night that Pink is also playing the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.

There are also Sam Fender security and entry rules for St James' Park that fans will need to be aware of too.
