Sam Fender confirms rescheduled dates for cancelled Newcastle gigs

He looked absolutely gutted at having to cancel the sold out shows earlier this week but Sam Fender has confirmed when his postponed gigs at O2 Academy Newcastle will go ahead.

The North Shields singer has had an absolutely amazing year, which started with him winning a Brits Critics Choice award and also brought him a debut number 1 album (which has now been certified Gold) and a huge following all over the world after playing gigs across the globe.

Sam made a triumphant return to home turf last weekend when he played two sold out shows at the Academy on his Hypersonic Missiles winter tour but there was great upset for the Will We Talk singer and his fans just a few days later, when he took to Instagram to reveal he'd been advised by a doctor to or risk doing permanent damage to his vocal chords.

The 25-year-old explained: "I've been to Harley Street to see the specialist, I've had a camera down my throat, I've got laryngitis, I've got bruising on the left side of my [vocal] cords and they're saying if I carry on or if I try to sing anymore, I'm going to hemorrhage my vocal cords, and that'll be me out for months, and I simply can not risk that anymore. I'm not going to have what happened last time.

"So that is the end of the tour. I'm working on what I can do to try and reschedule things. It's a f****ing nightmare, because I've had the best time of my life on this tour and I've literally played everything by the rules and I've not drank for two months, I've been solid, I thought I've been on top form, I thought I was fine, but I kept getting ill, I've had sort of bits of cold and flu stuff in between, and I thought I was kind of getting away with it."

Sam ended the video saying he would try and figure things out over the coming days and he's stayed true to his word as the rescheduled Newcastle dates have now been confirmed.

The December 21 gig will now take place on February 4 and and December 22 date on February 6. All existing tickets will be valid. If you are not able to attend refunds will be available at point of purchase.
