Sam Faiers 'fled' from awards early after mum Susie's 'worrying' text message about baby

Former TOWIE star Sam Faiers has told how she exited the Mirror's Pride of Britain awards unexpectedly early after a worrying text message about her baby son Edward.

Speaking in the latest episode of her weekly podcast The Sam and Billie Show, the mum-of-three explained how her mum Suzie Wells, 53, was babysitting her five-month-old son Edward at the time.

She explained to sister Billie: "My night actually got cut short, didn't it?"

The reality star explained how she'd headed to the glitzy ceremony with long-term partner Paul Knightley leaving her son Paul, six, and daughter Rosie at home.

But due to breastfeeding her youngest son Edward she set her mum Sue up at a hotel 10 minutes away from the bash to be close at hand.

And as her baby was on her mind she was enjoying the red carpet and hearing the incredible work of the 'heroes' - a text from her mum set her in a spin.

Sue told Sam that Edward wouldn't take a bottle of her expressed milk and was having a 'paddy' and wouldn't settle.

Sam was more concerned due to her mum 'never texting when we're out' leaving her left with a difficult decision.

And of course, the mum-of-three felt it was the right thing to do to opt out early of the awards and head to the hotel.

But she needn't have worried as Edward was blissfully unaware and having a nice nap on his nanny as she arrived back.

Sam said: "So, mum was like, 'I feel really bad' and I was like, 'Mum, don't be silly'. I said to her like, it's a breastfed baby, it's so tough."

"Well," Sam's sister Billie laughs along. "I have to admit, mum actually called me!"

"I knew she would have done," Sam giggles.

Sam chimes in again: "And that's the thing. Because when you're in a hotel, mum was like, 'I didn't obviously want to disturb everyone.'"

"You're in a limited space," Billie agrees. "And then it's so typical that he was asleep when you got home!"

But some fans wrongly speculated her departure was to avoid any further drama between herself and Ferne McCann — who was also attending the awards — whose friendship broke down last month.

Susie took to social media last month [September 28] to seemingly slam Ferne as the alleged voice notes gained traction on Instagram and went viral.

In one of the reported 39 audio clips the account claimed to have possession of , the voice called Sam a 'fat c***' in a message sent a month after the TV star welcomed her third child.

Both Sam and Ferne have failed to comment on the matter but Susie posted to her Instagram Stories: "Ferne has always been a very close family friend to all of us for over the past 20 years. It appears this voice note was sent just weeks after Samantha gave birth back in May. Since this voice note has surfaced more have been sent - very upsetting nasty things. We are as shocked as you are! Nobody should ever speak about their friends like this ever!"
