The matchup of second-year QBs on Monday Night Football will not happen.
The Jets announced Thursday quarterback Sam Darnold will miss their meeting with Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns because he is suffering from mononucleosis.
The matchup will feature Baker Mayfield against Trevor Siemian.
The Jets are 0-1, as are the Browns. Darnold did not have a good game in the loss to Buffalo. He was 28-of-41 for 175 yards and a TD in a 17-16 loss that saw the Bills score the last 17 points of the game. Darnold’s status is out indefinitely.
