New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold found himself in a strange situation at training camp. A fan wanted Darnold to autograph a speeding ticket. And Darnold obliged.
The Jets quarterback was asked about the odd moment during a press conference on Monday.
“I didn’t know if I should sign it or not,” Darnold told reporters, via SNY TV. “I wasn’t sure what to do. He told me sign it. I’m sure if I got in trouble for it or whatever, they could sign it off, but I don’t know. … I didn’t give him my card or anything, so I’m alright.”
The fan may not need Darnold’s credit card — the signature might be enough for the violator to win an appeal. Then again, that could depend upon how well Darnold plays this season — and whether the judge is a Jets or a New York Giants fan.
