Sam Byram's message for Nottingham Forest fans as loan spell comes to an end

Defender Sam Byram has thanked Nottingham Forest and the Reds’ fans for their support during his spell at the City Ground.

The West Ham United loanee has spent the majority of this season on the sidelines, making just eight appearances in total for Forest.

Having joined on loan in the summer, Byram featured three times for the club in August before suffering a knee injury in the 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Newcastle United, which required surgery.

Martin O'Neill says it is impossible not to have sympathy for Bolton Wanderers

He made his comeback last month and has been a regular in the last few weeks, including starting Sunday’s final game of the campaign, against Bolton Wanderers.

In the last game of his loan spell with the Reds, Byram helped Martin O’Neill’s side to clinch a third consecutive victory, and a clean-sheet, as they beat the already-relegated Trotters 1-0.

And after taking part in the lap of appreciation around the pitch at full-time, he posted a message to Forest supporters on his Instagram account.

The full-back wrote: “Nice to end on a win at home. Pleased to have played some games before the end of the season after missing the majority with my knee injury. Big thanks to everyone at the club and the fans support over the season.”

There has been speculation that Byram could be one of a number of players to leave the Hammers this summer.
