Sam Allardyce underlines big questions facing West Brom and Newcastle United if they go down

Former Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce has admitted there are no guarantees he will stay on at West Bromwich Albion to over see any likely Sky Bet Championship promotion push.

Allardyce's side look doomed in second bottom place and need a miracle to survive this season.

Big Sam's concerns also underline the financial difficulties that could be facing Newcastle if they are unable to fend off the threat of relegation.

Speaking to Football Focus, Allardyce said: "It needs both [sides] to agree what we are going to do.

"If one of us disagrees, we hold our hands up and say 'thank you very much'.

"If we both agree to go forward, we get on with it.

"It's a very complex situation to sit down and look at."

Allardyce then ran through the questions that West Brom and Newcastle will need to answer should they go down.

He said: "How much money do they think they need to save?

"How many key players would they have to let go?

"What budget would be available?

"If I'm to stay at West Brom, I'd want to be getting them back in the Premier League at the first time of asking - like I did when I joined West Ham.

"I wouldn't want to mess about. But we all need to be going in the same direction to do that."
