Sam Allardyce sends warning to Marcelo Bielsa as Leeds United secure Premier League promotion

Former England and Everton boss Sam Allardyce has sent a warning to Marcelo Bielsa following Leeds United's promotion.

Leeds' return to the top flight has now been confirmed after 16 years following West Brom's slip-up against Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

But while celebrations kick off around the city, for many, attention has already switched to next season.

Talking heads are already discussing how Leeds might fare in the top flight and a man who has his fair share of managing a Premier League team, Allardyce, has had his say with some advice for Bielsa.

"I think his management in other countries and the experienced he has gained by managing Leeds United through this period of time, he will not be taken by surprise by any stretch of the imagination," he told BeIn Sports.

"He will know what he wants to try to achieve.

"In terms of recruitment, across the frontline at Leeds United, in the Premier League, they would be short of goals and that is a critical area.

"If you haven't got enough goals, it doesn't matter what style of play or how good you are, if you don't score enough goals you will struggle.

"I think that will be a particular area he will look to strengthen. Of course, that is the most difficult area to strengthen, to find a goalscorer."

Allardyce also believes Bielsa must learn from Norwich City boss Daniel Farke and adapt his tactics to take on superior teams next season.

"Whether he is willing to change we will have to wait and see because Norwich came up last year and had a fantastic season in the Championship.

"He (Farke) didn't change his tactics whatsoever and found it very difficult to play the style of football he wanted to," he added.

"They ended up losing nearly all the games, or lots of games, and ended up getting relegated.

"You have to keep in mind that you may need to adapt tactically.

"Yes, you have got your philosophy and how you want to play, but when you play a team so much stronger than you, you have to change your style somewhat to cope with the powers of the Premier League."
