Sam Allardyce makes huge Leicester City claim and aims dig at Chelsea and Man United

West Brom boss Sam Allardyce has claimed that Leicester City are a "far better" side than Chelsea, amid the battle to finish in the Premier League top four.

Allardyce's men lost out 3-0 against the Foxes in the Premier League last night as Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans and Kelechi Iheanacho helped Brendan Rodgers' side move four points clear of Chelsea and West Ham in the top four race.

Leicester are now on their own in third place, four points above the Blues and the Hammers, who meet at the London Stadium this weekend, and six points ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham, who still harbour top four aspirations.

But Allardyce has given his verdict on Leicester after the game, with the West Brom boss aiming a dig in the direction of Chelsea, who the Baggies beat 5-2 at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

Speaking after seeing his side beaten 3-0 at the King Power Stadium, Allardyce said: “We were a long long way off where we have been.

"Leicester are a lot better than Southampton and far better than Chelsea - they are as good as the top boys. They are only behind Man City on that performance.”

His claim comes with Leicester third in the table and on course for Champions League football, while sitting seven points behind Manchester United in second with six games to play.

West Brom, who now sit nine points adrift of safety with just six games left to play, produced one of the shock results of the season when they inflicted a first Premier League defeat on Thomas Tuchel with a 5-2 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, April 3.

Chelsea took the lead in the game through Christian Pulisic, but after Thiago Silva was sent off, West Brom turned things around, with two goals from Matheus Pereira giving them the lead at half time.

Callum Robinson and Mbaye Diagne then made it 4-1 to the visitors, before Mason Mount pulled a goal back for the Blues, only for Robinson to add a fifth goal in injury time.

That still is Chelsea's only league defeat since Tuchel took charge in January.
