Sam Allardyce explains why Liverpool will match Arsenal's Invincibles record this season

Former Everton and West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has explained why Liverpool will match Arsenal's Invincibles by avoiding defeat for the entire Premier League season.

After beating the Hammers 3-2 on Monday night, the Reds made it 27 league matches without tasting defeat this season, putting them just 11 shy of achieving the remarkable achievement.

Arsenal fans, of course, are hoping that Liverpool stumble between now and the end of the campaign in order for their unique record to maintain - as well as their overall record of 49 Premier League matches without defeat,

However, Allardyce believes that Jurgen Klopp will inevitably lead his side to matching Arsenal with the historic record and has explained why he holds that view.

According to the experienced manager, clubs in the Premier League cannot play defensive-minded football to halt the Reds due to the negative outlook towards that style.

"Who do we think is going to beat Liverpool in the league this year? Nobody. We don't think anybody is going to beat them, with the way their playing at the moment," he told FootballJoe.

"Of course, Diego Simeone showed that it can be done. I would say that it's frowned upon to play like that in the Premier League because of the hype that's created, the white noise outside of the Premier League about 'you've got to play this way and only this way'.

"I think it's a dangerous thing for the Premier League because the beauty about the Premier League and the love for it across the world is the diversity of tactics involved in the league and that's becoming less and less now.

"Because of that, we might become more boring than we used to be and I'd be worried about that. We can't all play the same way, we shouldn't all play the same way, but everyone is promoting that we should.

"I think that is dangerous for the league and for the entertainment we have across the league. To have different tactics and different ways of setting your team out is what the Premier League is all about.

"To have the ability for the bottom of the league to beat one of the top boys is the attraction throughout the Premier League and if we lose that, then we lose a little bit of what we've got."
