Sam Allardyce casts doubt over potential West Brom swoop for Everton's Cenk Tosun

West Bromwich Albion manager Sam Allardyce has appeared to rule out a potential swoop for Everton striker Cenk Tosun.

The Turkey international is yet to start a Premier League match for Carlo Ancelotti's side so far this term, with his five appearances from the bench in the competition yielding no goals.

Following his return from a serious injury which saw his loan spell at Crystal Palace ended prematurely in February 2020, it's understood that the Blues are still open to offers for the striker.

However, nothing has yet come through on that front, despite rumours of a potential switch to West Brom circulating - with insiders casting doubt on their interest in Tosun at this stage.

Allardyce, who signed the striker during his time at Goodison Park, commented on his club's search for a striker after similar links to West Ham's Andy Carroll - but claimed they are looking abroad for their target.

He told his pre-Blackpool press conference: "I am looking for a front man but that would be from abroad."

Tosun joined Everton in the winter of 2018 and has made 57 appearances for the club in that time, scoring 10 goals.

This season, the striker has settled for a place on the bench following his return from injury as Dominic Calvert-Lewin's form has earned him a regular spot in the side.
