Sam Allardyce bonus reports amid reason Sammy Lee won't be joining Leeds United

Sam Allardyce will be handed a lucrative bonus if he keeps Leeds United in the Premier League.

The former England, Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers boss is set to be announced as the Whites' new manager for the final four matches of the season. He will replace Javi Gracia in the dugout at Elland Road, who has been dismissed after just two-and-a-half months in charge.

Gracia only succeeded Jesse Marsch back in February but a dismal run of four defeats in five matches - with 16 goals conceded - saw Andrea Radrizzani pull the trigger. The ex-Watford manager's dismissal also brought the end of Victor Orta's time at Leeds as sporting director after a series of poor decisions.

Leeds are one of three teams currently sat on 30 points and face an uphill battle to secure Premier League survival with just four matches remaining. Allardyce will take charge of games against Manchester City, Newcastle United, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur, arguably the toughest run-in of those around them.

He will be handed a huge bonus if he is successful at keeping the club in the division, with outlets such as The Times and Mail Online reporting he will pocket as much as £2.5 million on top of a base salary of £500,000. The Daily Star, meanwhile, claim it will be slightly less than that at £1 million.

Allardyce is set to be joined by former Oxford United manager Karl Robinson having worked together at Blackburn Rovers several years ago. Sammy Lee was also wanted in West Yorkshire by Allardyce, but he is unable to do so due to being on jury service.
