Richard Keys has backed Sam Allardyce to keep Leeds United in the Premier League amid reports the 68-year-old could replace Javi Gracia. Leeds are preparing to call time on Javi Gracia's ten-week spell in charge at Elland Road, and are considering former England, Bolton, West Ham and Everton boss Allardyce.
Allardyce has been out of work since he stepped down as West Brom boss in 2021 following their relegation from the Premier League. He has managed an astonishing 1,060 games across a managerial career stretching 30 years, including 537 in the Premier League.
Roy Hodgson and Neil Warnock came out of retirement to takeover at Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town respectively this season. Hodgson has guided Palace to four wins from six to help them climb into 11th, while Warnock has all but secured Huddersfield's Championship status having been second from bottom when he took over.
And former Sky Sports presenter Keys has backed Allardyce to follow in their footsteps. “Big Sam is back! There’s a theme here. The return of the dinosaurs," Keys wrote on Twitter.
“[Roy] Hodgson,[Neil] Warnock, Allardyce. You can’t buy experience. Welcome back big man. What an incentive for him – keep Leeds up and relegate Everton.”
