Salzburg sporting director offers Erling Haaland transfer update amid Manchester United speculation

RB Salzburg's sporting director has confirmed that the club have yet to receive a transfer offer from any club for striker prodigy Erling Braut Haaland, amid rumours linking Manchester United.

After a brief up-turn in form United fell to another defeat on Saturday as Bournemouth secured a 1-0 win.

What was apparent in the defeat, and has been all season, is just how much United struggle creating chances and scoring goals.

As a result Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to dip back into the transfer market in January and add some attacking reinforcements to his squad.

A whole host of names have been mentioned over the last few weeks from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to James Maddison and from Moussa Dembele to Kai Havertz.

One name who has continued to be rumoured is teenage sensation Haaland but Christoph Freund, Salzburg's sporting director, has revealed that there has yet to have been an approach for the striker.

“So much nonsense is written in the last few weeks. What I’ve already read makes me laugh,” Freund said.

“I have not spoken to any club so far. I can also say there’s currently no offer for the winter [transfer]. The next step will come, because Erling will be unstoppable.”

Haaland announced himself to the footballing world in style this season as he became the first player since Wayne Rooney to score a hat-trick on his Champions League debut.

The 19-year-old has also scored against Liverpool and Napoli and has bagged a staggering 22 goals in 16 games so far, as well as six assists.

It's no surprise that he is being linked with all of Europe's top clubs but there is a special link between Haaland and United as he used to play under Solskjaer at Molde, scoring 20 times for him in the process.
