Salt Bae customer gobsmacked over £37,000 bill at London steak house

A Londoner who reportedly spent an eyewatering £37,000 in Salt Bae's restaurant was furious when the bill arrived.

The four guests had a Golden Tomahawk, an £850 steak covered in gold leaf, and 16 Nusret Baklava's - a traditional Turkish dessert typically served with Matei Radulescu, a Turkish ice cream, a total of £400.

Other items included pricey sides such as one sautéed broccoli (£14), a portion of asparagus (£18), three herb-crusted fries (£30) and one side of mashed potato (£12).

But the cost increased dramatically after they ordered a vintage 1996 bottle of Petrus for £9,100 and two bottles of 2003 Petrus at £9,950 each, reports MyLondon.

A 15 per cent service charge was also added to the £32,194 bill, making it a total amount of £37,023.10.

Posting a picture of the receipt from last Friday (October 8), the caption read, "That's just taking the p**s"."

The picture was shared on Reddit, much to the shock and dismay of other readers.

The Turkish chef and restaurateur became an internet sensation because of his stylised way of preparing meat.

Gemma Collins recently told of her “utter shock” at receiving a £1,450 bill for a 24 carat Golden Tomahawk steak at Salt Bae’s restaurant Nusr-et, Knightsbridge.

Speaking on her podcast, Gemma said: "I have to give the ambience of the restaurant, the experience, a 10 out of 10.

“The bill was another situation, I was in utter shock. But you have to weigh these things up, the press reported that my steak cost £700, if only they knew.

“I wish it cost £700. It actually cost £1,450.”
