Salon owner fears further Glasgow break-ins during coronavirus lockdown after store robbed

A salon owner says she fears for further break-ins in Glasgow during a coronavirus lockdown after her store was robbed.

Police have launched an investigation after the Susan Mcgorm Hair on Crow Road was broken into in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Susan notified her customers of the incident late last week, in which she heard 'young boys' get excited when they discovered money.

She commented on Facebook: "The salon was broken into by three young boys and audio is recorded.

"The shutter was jammed up, door smashed in and the place was ransacked. At one point they were joyous at finding another tenner - yes I heard that.

"All business owners please be vigilant as this isn’t a great time for us and I’ve heard of a few other shops being broken into as well.

"Thank you to the person who called the police and also the friend that alerted me to seeing the police there."

Susan has since been in touch with Glasgow Live sharing her concerns for the coming weeks, saying the scene on our streets could be reminiscent of horror movie The Purge.

She said: "I’m angry and scared about the lockdown when it happens. People are having to shut their businesses and we’re going to worry if anyone is going to break into them at night.

"I’ve put more security measures in place on my shutters so they won’t be able to get them open now, which has cost me more money.

"I feel ok, but worried about when the businesses shut.

"It’s like the Purge."

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "We can confirm that a break-in at premises on Crow Road, Glasgow was reported on Thursday, 19 March, and police enquiries are ongoing."
