Salomon Rondon gets all emotional about Newcastle United - and the fans love it

Salomon Rondon may have only been on Tyneside for one season but in that short spell did enough to be remembered fondly by Newcastle United fans.

The forward took to social media to reminisce about his final month at Newcastle, and the reaction from fans just goes to show how highly he's thought of.

"Good morning from the jungle," he tweeted with a clip of his goal he scored in the final home game of the season against Liverpool, "This noise from St. James' Park was in the last battle on our court - the great final game of the season, and also the appointment of the best player of the year.

"What nice memories of Newcastle this month brings me!"

With 11 goals to his name - in a largely defensive side - it was hoped that Newcastle United would sign the Venezuela international but the club refused to meet his release clause which was believed to be around £16 million.

The decision, amid Rafa Benitez being allowed to walk away, was then taken to spend a club-record £40 million on Joelinton - the young Brazilian only returning one Premier League goal this season.

It's clear that United fans are missing the former West Brom man - who now plays in China.

"What a player," Aiden Head wrote, "What a bloke, we need more passionate players like Rondon back at Newcastle."

"Much love Ronny," DustryReds on Twitter simply posted.

"Come home," Keeks wrote.

Rondon currently plays for Dalian Professional - the side managed by Benitez - and is preparing for the new season to begin.
